 Spring Break 2021

We had a larger-than-usual family group for our annual March campout.   Our son, Joel, and nephew John and his family joined us.  Daughter Kim didn't camp but joined us for dinners around the campfire and day trips to nearby sites.  Unfortunately, son Mark couldn't join us this year.

We occupied two sites at Lockhart State Park not far from Austin.   Not our first choice for location, but we have learned to take what we can get during the busiest camping week in our area.

From the campground, we made a short hike to find a geocache and read
the signs along The Story Walk.

Our granddaughter doesn't appear to be thrilled for this photo.

We were unable to get a reservation at McKinney Falls State Park so we
made a day trip instead.  Unfortunately, bluebonnets are late this year because
of the "Big Freeze" last month.  We have seen them at this park in profusion
in previous years.

She was really into collecting rocks wherever we went.

It was great to see migrating monarchs in the park.

We took our city grandkids to Happy Chick Farm outside of Lockhart.

Family gathered around the campfire to enjoy Lockhart BBQ

The last morning was a bit chilly so these two climbed onto my bed in our van to share books.

We are both fully vaccinated and are now looking forward to a road trip in April to visit Brian's mother in Pennsylvania now that she is allowed to have visitors in her retirement community.
